The purpose of this book is to guide the reader to discover who he truly is through simple, straightforward and easy to understand language. Willy emphasizes that spirituality is not exclusive to those who live in monasteries or isolated from society, in order to evolve spiritually. Even the simplest person without much spiritual knowledge can become enlightened, live a peaceful, whole, joyful and harmonious life.

In this book we explore topics like; death, karma, God, loving relationships, how to deal with thoughts, emotions and physical pain, overcoming depression anxiety, how to live life awake, how to deal with unconscious people among many other important topics.

One of the goals of the spiritual path is to make you give up on being yourself and get tired of searching. Much of the spiritual awakening that happened to me was due to the pains, losses, resistance and struggles that I went through. I had my nightmares and hells, and all of this made me have a pure and honest desire to question my identity and seek the truth above all else.

We need to have the courage to look at the darkest corners of life and find the light there. That is how we light up the darkness, understanding that this is just the absence of light. Carl Jung once said that "as far as we can discern, the only purpose of human existence is to turn on a light in the darkness of mere existence". If there are so many things going wrong with you, this is great, as it means that there are new territories for you to inhabit, rearrange, tidy and light up.

We create problems where they don't exist, run after ghosts that don't exist and run away from ghosts that don't exist. If we have a problem to solve it is this: how to stop complicating what does not need complication? How to stop hindering what is simple? How to stop creating war where there is peace? How to stop fighting the flow of life? How to stop seeing problems where they didn't exist initially? Living is like being floating in a river: if you keep your arms closed, huddled, resisting, you will slowly sink and drown, but if you open your arms, you will start to float and be carried away by the movement of the waters and you will simply reach where you need to, and the the best is that you can enjoy the journey without even having planned anything.

When we affirm that there is something to improve in us, we are automatically affirming that there is something bad, but in reality, the bad is illusory and only came into existence when we affirm that there was something to improve. There is no need to go through a self-improvement program, because the moment you decide that there is something that needs to be improved, you state the opposite, that there is something defective. You create your own defects yourself when you try to improve them. It is an illusion that creates another illusion, and this goes on repeating the vicious circle for self-affirmation. “I need to be enlightened, I need to wake up, I need to be better, I need to be more holy”, this is an illusion, because you are all of that, but, because you want to be so many things, you do not recognize what you already are.

Most of the time, the mind lies and we believe. How many times do we think, feel, imagine, build fantasies or worry about things that did not exist, exist and will never exist? How many times have we suffered for something that we believed would happen, but that didn't? The monsters themselves that torment our lives are our creations. It is not life or chance that are blamed for our thoughts and mental torments. The mind thinks even when it does not need to think, it is automatic and misbehaved when it is not supported by a guide. It is like a hammer that continues to hit the nail on the wall until it starts destroying the wall for no reason or reason. With the power of conscious awareness, we can stop this self-destructive and unnecessary process that hurts us and others.
